Uninstalled some programs now microsoft office doesnt work

Hi

I uninstalled some programs from my machine yesterday and today the whole
Microsoft Office suite cannot open files and says something needs to be
installed.

However it still shows Microsoft Office Professional Edition in the Control
Panels and I'm 100% sure I have not uninstalled Office so is there some add
on program which I need which I might have uninstalled accidently.

Hope this isn't too vague

What programs did you uninstall?
What is the "something" it says must be installed?
