uninstalling office 2000 in a terminal services environment

S

STDSTSP

I need to uninstall Office 2000 on a computer running terminal services.
When I try to do so (using Add/remove program) I get an error message. I
then got a tip on using the following command (after chosing Add program)
with the office 2000 cd in the cd-drive:
D:\SETUP.EXE TRANSFORMS=C:\TermSrvr.mst
Sadly I can not choose to remove the program completely.

Can anyone help me with this?

Hi Std,

A transform (in the case of Office 2000 only, the MS provided, mandatory TermSrvr.mst is used to install Office (i.e. it contains
instructions to 'script' Word to act as though you were typing and clicking your way to an Office 2000 install, rather than an
uninstall operation. (In the MS KB documentation such as
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/242504/en-us?FR=1
the way it reads it can be interpreted to sound like using the MST file is for both removal and installation, but it's basically for
reinstalling after removing using the cleanup (not the Eraser 2000) utility.

Are you trying to uninstall Office 2000 from a server so that it's removed from all users or just remove it from a single profile?

Is Office 2000 working properly at present?

What terminal services/Windows server version are you using?
Are you an administrator, are you running in /Install mode?
What is the exact error message?

You may also want to check with the folks in the Terminal Services newsgroup as well.

Hi Bob,
As you suggested I used the "Windows Installer Cleanup Utility".
I then reinstalled Office2000 and after that I uninstalled it again, this
time succesfully.
After that I installed Office2003 and it seems to be working perfectly for
all login accounts.

Many thanks!
