Uninstalling Office 2003 beta

T

Tom Foolery

Is anyone aware of any problems encountered when uninstalling the Office
2003 beta suite? Did a Google search for special instructions for
uninstalling and ran across a rant from someone who indicated that
uninstalling, using Add/Remove, caused all sorts of problems. The writer
intimated that the problems stemmed from an application called
"Bootstrap.exe", and that the uninstallation disabled his security system,
system restore, and lord knows what else. Has anyone else encountered
problems?

Having uninstalled it a few dozen times, I haven't seen any such problems.

In addition, if the poster had been using a test system and not a production
system, as recommended for all beta products, then why was there a problem
that could not be solved by re-ghosting or formatting the machine?

I have little patience for folks who install beta code on a production
machine, against all common sense and directions, and then complain when
their system is trashed.

Thanks for the answers and insight. I have to admit the poster sounded like
one of the many who buy Microsoft products only to trash them in newsgroups
and everywhere else. Trashing Microsoft is fashionable these days, I guess.
