uninstalling office 2007

Reba

My new computer came with Office 2007, I absolutely HATE it. I have the
Office 2003 Professional CD. Can I uninstall 07 and install 2003 in it's
place or am I going to have error problems with a newer version being on the
computer? Office 97 had an eraser download that allowed the previous version
to work correctly.
Thanks

Provided your 2003 version is a retail and not a previously installed OEM,
simply uninstall 2007 first

Well I'm glad to hear that I am not the only one that thinks 07 is lousy. I
had the same question you did - going back to 03. I AM SO TIRED of going to
the help menu every time I want to find something on a toolbar. I don't know
what MS was thinking. All I know is that 07 is just about the worst thing I
ever saw; it appears to do nothing better than my 03 version. Reba, your not
alone. /Steve

I've been using office for years. and there's never been a version as bad as
07. not user friendly and for those of us used to our shortcuts that we've
picked up over the years it's EXTREMELY annoying. I can't find anything it
does better 03.

So presumably when you went from Office 97 to Office 2000 to Office 2002 to
Office 2003 you didn't have to learn ANYTHING new?
(The same goes for Windows 95-98-2000-XP-Vista.....)

I hsave been using Office since it first came out back in windows 95 days.
NONE of the changes from 97-2000-2002 were as confusing and made it as
difficult to find basic commands as 2007. The fact that several companies
have already come out with "classic view" add-ins for 2007 is a testement to
MS's screwup.

Rubbish. Sorry, it's not very difficult OR time-consuming to learn as that.
In fact I think you'll find that while SOME functions are slightly more
difficult to find, the vast majority are EASIER to find....

OF course there was something new to learn with each version...but I'm not
willing to put up with the garbage of 2007

So what "garbage" might that be? as an Office user since office 95 I find
office 2007 the MOST intuitive version yet released - all the functions are
in logical places...

So what "garbage" might that be?

Some people would rather whine then use something new, they're the
one's providing the "garbage".

Whining never solves a problem but maybe it makes them feel better?

No, it just reinforces their belief that being a Luddite is a good thing.

Without debating the "enhancements" to Office 2007, how can MSFT think it is
an improvement to take up 30% of your screen with their Office 2007
toolbar/menu area??!! That is just a joke of an "enhancement" and a stupid
idea.

Then just minimize the ribbon.....it's all there.....

And it doesn't take up "30%" of the screen.....if it does then you've got
your resolution incorrect....

i totally agree with you I hate it also. Why do they screw with things when
they work? I totally hate the giant toolbars on word.
Is 2003 the same as 97?

Generally a new PC comes with an Office Trial, you dont have to use it, and
can simply uninstall it and install your retail vesion of office. Though
only Office 2003, and above, is fully compatible with Vista
