Uninstalling Office 97

M

Mr. Edd

Hi Guys

I have Office 2003 corporate edition I install on all the machines for the
company I work for. We have had a new guy start who has his own laptop (XP
Home) with Office 97 on it. I want to put our version 2003 with all the
security updates on for him so he can use our documents etc. and have all
the latest patches installed. Office 2003 will not install next to Office 97
and I can't uninstall Office 97 as it keeps asking for the CD for some
component MSI for FrontPage; not sure what this is all about??? I have not
had any problems installing and updating online with any other machines, so
it's not our version of Office 2003. The guy doesn't have the CD for Office
97, dunno why?

Can anyone help please as I can't format his laptop and start again? He is
away overseas at the moment and has the laptop with him, not sure when he is
back but I will need to do this asap when he gets back. I just want to be
prepared as he is one of my bosses and I want to keep him sweet. <G>

Thanks

Edd

Hi Edd,

Office 97 used the 'acmesetup' routines so it is clueless about MS Installer or any MSI files. You might want to start with
checking the list of installed Microsoft programs in Add/Remove Programs in the Windows Control Panel.

With the exception of Outlook, Office 97 and Office 2003 can exist side by side.
For removing Office 97 manually this information may help.

Mr. Edd

Thanks for this Bob,

Of course I can't check anything till he gets back. I had tried to uninstall
from Add/Remove but it still asked for the CD.
I will get back to you when he turns up with the laptop and I can try again.

Thanks
