Uninstalling Office Pro 97

Karen

Hello! I KNOW someone out there will be able to help me (right???). Well, I'm trying to uninstall Office Pro 97 from my puter. I no longer have the CD... my friend moved and took it with him. Control Panel's "add/remove" option keeps demanding I insert the CD. There must be another way to get this off my puter. I'm afraid of manually deleting it as I know programs for versions of windows post 3.1 feed off all kinds of directories and I don't want to screw anything up

THANKS MEGATONS in advance!!!

Whatever you do, Karen, don't start deleting files. You are right..., you
will screw everything up!!

Good luck,

Ed

Hi Karen,

If you have a newer version of MS Office you're going to be
installing it can usually clear out the old one for you. You may
be able to use the manual steps in this article otherwise.

No, Martin, I didn't. I've decided I just don't want Office Pro anymore. Outlook is WAY WAY WAY clumsy and always inihilates my Outlook Express' ability to do e-mail, calendars won't print, mail gets lost, that dumb little guy (assistant) keeps popping up all the time, etc. I got a copy of ACT! off e-bay and installed Print Shop and found Microsoft works to actually be quite a bit friendlier, that's all!

Thanks Bob, I'll look there. This is just another reason why I'm P.O.'d at Office. You want to get rid of it and just can't!!!! I've NEVER had that problem with any other registered software before. Well, what are ya' gonna do?!!!! Like Edward said... if I start just deleting stuff I'll screw everything up. The program takes up just too much space and slows the whole system down. I'll let you know how these instructions work!!!

There is an Office Eraser utility for 97. Don't have a URL, but try
searching Microsoft Website. If not, I can send it to you if you mail me
personally (it's 1.5Mb).

Just remove silly!
