uninstalling office vx

Hi All. First of all I must apologize for my poor English

I've installed and uninstalled office vx but when uninstalling, the
installer software ask me what to uninstall and let me choose between office
98 and office vx (or both of them). I've never installed office 98 and all
the software I have came with the computer (a new brand ibook g4 800).

Is office 98 preinstalled in order to make appleworks documents conversion
to work (that is to make them windows compatible)?.

What would happer if uninstall everything related to office?. Will the rest
of my preinstalled software keep on working?

I'd like to know more about this strange issue.

Thanks in advance,
Carlos Llerandi

Hea no problem. English is not the first language for many of us
around here (including myself :))) ).

Weird. This shouldn't happen. As far as I remember, the uninstaller
sends the files to the trash. You can probably go through the process of
uninstalling Office 98 and rescue the files in the trash i ever you
realize the uninstaller went too far.

Nope.
AppleWorks comes with converters from Dataviz as far as I remember.

They definitively should.

I just know what happened. When installing office vx, the installer, also
install a set of fonts (coming from office 98 version, I think) that's why
installer detect two different versions, but really there's just one.

That sounds awfully weird to me ;-\ You sure you never had an old copy
of 98 on this Mac ?? Anyway, the most important thing right now is to
get X working fine.

Absolutely sure, my mac is a new-brand-out-of-the-box 2 weeks old one, and
I've naver installed anything but office vx.

Then it has to be a bug in the uninstaller :-<<<
