uninstalling office

I installed Office XP over Office 2000 Standard. I'm now
having problems and would like to uninstall all Office
products and start over with just XP...
But when I go to Add/Remove programs, uninstall Office, it
locks up my machine.
Tried in SafeMode, no luck.
Any ideas???
