Uninstalling old Office and installing new

I assume that my trial version of Office has ended as I can now only view
(not edit) documents in Word, Excel etc. I now have a new, purchased,
version. To uninstall the trial version do I only need to remove " 2007
Microsoft Office System" from my list of programs? I won't lose any files
will I?

That is correct. But you must also uninstall the Activation Assistant (Very
important). It is also prudent to save all your work since you do not know what can
happen when uninstalling or installing

Your files, documents, spread sheets, databasses, and so on, will be stored
in My Documents, so they will not be affected by the Uninstall or the
subsequent Installation. Smart money would copy them out to a thumb-drive,
but at the end of the day this ought not be _necessary_ but it is the safe
thing to do.

You will go into the Control Panel. Add and Remove Programs (Vista and Win7
use Programs, or something similar) to Uninstall the Office Suite. You'll
also need to Uninstall the Microsoft Activation Assistant. Reboot. Then
install the new copy of the Office Suite.
