Uninstalling/reinstalling Office 2003

When I tried to run Office 2003 after a Win XP repair, it
would not run. When I tried to reinstall it, it gave me
the error "This patch package could not be opened. Verify
the patch package exists and that you can access it, or
contact the application vendor to verify that this is a
valid Windows installer patch package"

I then tried to uninstall it and got the same error. So
now I cannot uninstall the inoperative installation, nor
can I reinstall it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
