I do not recommend that you add the Unique ID field to every Table in
Microsoft Project. If you do so, you will make it impossible for your PM's
to modify any default Views. A better approach would be to include the
Unique ID field in a couple of custom Tables and then include those Tables
in a couple of custom Views. Here's how to create the custom Table:
1. Open a new blank project
2. Click View - Table - More Tables
3. Select a Table and then click the Copy button
4. Give this Table a new name, such as "_Entry with UID"
5. Add the Unique ID field to this Table
6. Click the OK button and then click the Close button
Now, create a custom View containing this Table:
1. Click View - More Views
2. Select a View and click the Copy button
3. Give the View a new name, such as "_Gantt Chart with UID"
4. Click the Table pick list and then select the new "_Entry with UID"
table
5. Click OK and then click Close
Repeat the above two processes for each new Table and View, and then copy
them to the Enterprise Global file:
1. Click Tools - Enterprise Options - Open Enterprise Global
2. Click Tools - Organizer
3. Click the "Views Available In" pick list on the left and pick the blank
project from the list
4. Select the new View(s) on the left and then click the Copy button
5. Select the Table tab
6. Select the new Table(s) on the left and then click the Copy button
7. Click the Close button
8. Save and close the Enterprise Global
9. Exit and relaunch Microsoft Project
Hope this helps.
