unique numbers on tickets

i have event ticks designed, 6-up on a page in publisher.
i want to have each one numbered.

i thought the easiest way to do it would be a mailmerge.

i built an excel spreadsheet with 1-300 down the A1
column. i was successfully able to merge that data into
the publisher file, but....

when i preview the numbered tickets, all six on the page
have the same number.

(the way ive done it: in my excel file, i have the first
cell called "Ticket Number" and then rows 2-301 are
numbered 1-300. in publisher, ive placed text boxes on
each of the tickets, then, from the mailmerge wizard,
have done an "Insert Field" into each text box, and
placed the "Ticket Number" (the only option that appears
from that spreadsheet, naturally) ... but it's putting
the same number on all 6 tickets on the page)

any way to have tickets 1-6, then 7-12, and so on?

The preview will not display the merge accurately. Go to File > Print and
Print a TEST and you will see that the merge was indeed successful.

See the Tutorial Section at my site listed below. There is a ticket
numbering tutorial.
