Unique Situation: Project Server connecting to WSS

Sorry about the details and wordiness in advance (PLEASE READ)....

After three days of searching and trying to do it myself; I need help!

Dev dB = mps2K3sqldev
Prod dB = mps2K3sql

I was recently testing WSS Site Creation in a development environment
thinking it was (mps2K3sqldev). However the development WSS database
(mps2K3sql) was pointed to the production environment after a restore back in
December 2005. Learing the hard way!

I create a top level web site on http://serverdev:8082/ for the PMO
Department to test the feature. I deleted the website because I did not want
it under the /root...

Because the WSS database (mps2K3sql) is the production environment everyone
see the error message on Home Page: There is a problem establishing a
connection with the Web server running Windows SharePoint Services. Contact
your system administrator.

We'll I am the Project Server Admin and have moderate experience with
SharePoint. I did review and perform the steps outlined in the MSPS2003
Disaster Recovery Guide and Chapter 6 of the Admin Guide. Also ran Conn and
WSS Wizard Tools... Search usergroups,,, ran iisrest and the works

I can access Issues, Risks, and Documents as normal but the summary of these
items are not appearing on the homepage to let user know of any new issues
exsist. Email Notification is turned off at this point.

How do I start all over from strach with the WSS Production dB? Or get the
connection state back.. If this email is not clear please let me know..
Really need help on this one...

Okay! I will answer my own question....

I was able to resolve this issue and many trials and errors...

Please note: This is true only in the case if you had no template in the
root of your WSS site... The Top Level Site existed in the dB but not in the
content dB,, There was no content in the dB so I deleted the record from the
table.

1. Run Enterprise Manager> Locate SQL Server (MP2K3SQL)
2. Expand WSS dB
3. Open Site Table to Expand All Rows
4. Delete First Row
5. Connect to WSS Central Admin Page
6. Create Top Level Web Site for the WSS dB
7. Make sure you create at the root level
8. Finished
