Univers fonts not recognised properly in 2004, but OK in V.x

Some Univers fonts open in 2004 as generic sans serif whereas they were
fine in ppt V.x. Creating a new file and trying to use the fonts displays the
same problem. The fonts display correctly when used in Word and/or Excel
2004. Have trashed ppt prefs. Any ideas please?

Hi Richard,

Do you have more than one copy of the font on your computer? MacOS will use
the first copy it encounters. If you do have more than one copy of a font
using the same file name, then remove or otherwise get rid of the copy that
you don't want to use.

Office 2004 now supports UNICDOE and ATSUI
<http://developer.apple.com/intl/atsui.html>
Fonts are being handled differently from earlier versions, which could
explain differences. If you have a specific example, please post details.

Thanks.

Thanks for the response.

I¹ve double-checked, and I have only one copy of the offending fonts. They
are installed in my User>Library>Fonts folder (only I use the machine).

Oh, and I have tried renaming the fonts with explicit names in case the
style of filename caused a problem no difference. (They are fonts copied
from my work PC).

Really appreciate your help seems an odd problem!

All the best

Hi Richard,

This sounds like it might be a bug, especially if the fonts are correct in
Word, but not PowerPoint.

You can contact Microsoft support directly to see if they have a
work-around, or you can simply report the problem by using the feedback
feature from the Help menu (no personal replies using this method, however).

Either way, please be sure to provide the details that Microsoft will need,
such as the problem font's name, manufacturer, and any other details such as
your system information and hardware configuration that you think would be
needed to reproduce the problem.
