unknown format

my little brother decided to play around on my pc with word! as a result he
has changed a format setting which is very annoying!
what it does is puts a dot next to every word in the whole document, and a
backwards P (sort of lP backwards) after every paragraph! if it was only the
P things i wouldnt mind, but the dots are very annoying!!! i have tried all
the common settings to no avail! and i have tried reinstalling the whole
office program to no avail!
please help me!!

The dots represent spaces. Nonprinting characters can be turned off and
on by clicking ¶ in the Standard toolbar. If that doesn't work, check
the View settings in the Tools | Options menu. See here for more info,
and an explanation of how nonprinting characters can be extremely useful:

However, also note--you’ve landed in a MacWord group (not your fault,
one of the web interfaces is *very* badly designed). In the future,
