unknown send items

Outlook task bar shows 'sending messages 1 of 2' but no messages actually
created by user. Normal and genuine messages despatched as normal but this
message remains and is evident each time Outlook opened. Cannot identify or
locate these phantom so called 'messages'. Whether co-incidental but
performance of Outlook has deteriorated since this message appeared. Good
security installed but scans reveal nothing unusual.
Have tried Outlook Spy as detailed in a like post but without success -
nothing listed.
Any help to remove this irritant appreciated

If you are using Outlook 2007, there is a counting bug which could cause
this as well. This is just a counting bug though with no actual active
process in the background. Service Pack 2 for Office 2007 should clear this
up.
