Unlicensed version of windows =locked out of computer

Although this is probably elementary for you, it is hardly simple for me. My teenage daughter installed her friend’s version of windows (a newer version she wanted) onto her computer. It warned her to provide the codes or uninstall windows (which she didn’t have). It went past the time period it allowed and then it locked her out.

I have tried to fix it for her & run a system restore on it but it won’t let me and they want to charge as much as the laptop is worth to take it in to fix it. There has to be a simple way to allow for the system restore to run on this, I just don’t know how. Please help.

The name of this newsgroup is not clear... this newsgroup is

PS - that procedure is called Anti-Piracy for a reason

Microsoft takes a VERY dim view of someone trying to steal software

System restore won't revert to a previous installation of Windows when the
present version isn't activated and the 30 day grace period expires. Do you
have a backup of the pc? If not you may need to reinstall the system from
the original restore CDs.

That said, you'd be better served posting your question in a group for your
os. This group is for Microsoft Access database forms.
