unlink a file?

A friend of mine copied and pasted some cells from another
file1 into file2. The cells in the new file (file2) do not
contain any links to the old file (file1) yet each time I
open file 1 it asks me if I want to enable the links. How
do I permanently delete the links (that seem not to exist)
so it stops asking this or get it to stop asking the
question? Thanks
