When you create your form, before you do anything else, open it in design
view.
Right click on the top-most of the stacked controls and choose Layout |
Remove on the
shortcut menu.
All the controls are free to move individually now.
Yes, that is normally what I have to do in 2007, but, I too, leanred this
the hard way, and it was very confusing and irritating until I learned how
to separate them. Most average users do not know what to do with this new
'feature' or how to correct it. The terminology used for the layout
functions is also confusing, making it difficult for average users to even
try to look up how to separate them in the Help files.
I can't find any way to set the default so that controls are not linked.
I have tried to find a way to do that since I found out how to separate
them, but, like you, to no avail.
I create a lot of forms by copying and pasting a form already in the
database.
That way I am not bothered by the stacked controls created by the form
wizard.
So it's not an issue for me, but as far as I know, there is not any way to
turn it off if using the form wizard.
I also use copy/paste a good many forms, as it just saves time and they are
easily revised. I have some forms that I use as templates for other
databases with similar layout needs.
Thank you for the additional input.

btw...I have a very good friend who lives in Bendigo, not too far from
Melbourne I believe.
