Will your damp keyboard work for anything at all in other programs other
than Office?

Click Start Programs and start notepad. Does the keyboard work for that
simple program? If not, time to replace the keyboard. Sounds like you may
have ruined the keyboard, especially if the coffee had sugar or cream in it.
It doesn't take a lot. Liquids in electronics or on non-waterproof switches
(under the keys) never is a good idea.

The keyboard works for everthing except MS Office; even typing this response.

I believe there is a combination of keys that locks the keyboard from
typing. I just don't know whatit is; or how to undo it.

How about giving us an idea of the version of Office (2000, 2002(XP), 2003
or 2007) you are having problems with.

How long have the Office programs been installed on the computer? Does this
only happen with Word or all Office programs (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)? You
do mention "document" but some people call PowerPoint presentations
documents.

You have said all documents. What happens when you start a document from
scratch. Can you type anything on the blank document that opens?

In the status bar of Word or on the screen do you see any of the following
messages when attempting to type?

This command is not available because the document is locked for editing
The document is locked for editing by another user
Your document is protected by a password
This modification is not allowed because the document is locked

Trial software that came with the computer or purchased software that you
installed from your own disk after purchasing?

Have you activated the software? Check by starting Word, click the Office
Orb, Word Options, Resources, Activate Microsoft Office. What does it say
or do at that time?

Geez, I can be a dolt at times. I thought the prompt to activate was only
for the trial software the MS was pushing for an upgrade to MS Professional.
After actually activating the software, everthing is working correctly.

Just a coincidence withe the coffee spill.

Thanks again for your help.

It's amazing what anything in the keyboard causes. Pretty funny about the
timing though. Glad the keyboard didn't go South to seek warmer, drier
climates.
