Unlock Shape Problem

I have a problem unlocking a shape. I go to the shape sheet and
change "Lock Group" from "1" to "0" and then unlock the
shape on the drawing sheet. The shape then jumps to he lower left
corner of the drawing sheet, unlocked but always in the lower left
corner. When I try to move the shape it snaps back to the lower left
corner of the drawing sheet.
Anyone know how I can stop this snapping back?

When you say "unlock the shape on the drawing sheet", I presume that you are
ungrouping the shape. I don't recommend this for shapes that have LockGroup
set on them. The sub-shapes are only designed to work within the group.
This is why they do not behave properly after you ungroup.

Instead, after you set LockGroup to 0, go to Edit > Edit Group to open a
special editing window for the group shape. This allows you to modify the
group without destroying it.
