unlocking option buttons

I have set up several option buttons in a spreadsheet
with protection unlocked on the cell, the group box in
which they are contained, and on the buttons themselves.
When I protect it, at first it works correctly. However
If I unprotect the workbook to change a feature, the
option buttons no longer work correctly and give a "cell
is protected" warning. When I check the protection on the
objects, groups, and cell, it still says unlocked. Does
anybody have any idea how i can correct this?
