Often, but not always, when I quit Entourage 2004, I get a message
indicating that " has quit" or words to that effect. The point is, it
doesn't say what quit: no process is named. I get the usual request to
send the info to Microsoft followed by a message indicating that "" -
the unnamed process - is being restarted. This has been going on for a
few weeks, but I never noticed anything wrong with Entourage
afterwards. But now I think the error process is still running:
Activity Monitor says that "Microsoft error" is the busiest active
process on my computer, using about 100% CPU! I just force-quit
"microsoft error" and the temperature of my CPUs went down 15C in a
minute - after going up that amount a few weeks ago, probably about the
time I first got this error from Entourage.
Does anyone know what's going on here? I have Entourage set to purge
aging deleted messages from my IMAP (.Mac) account, which it does on
quitting. That seems to get done, though I haven't checked every time.
(It does not purge my POP deleted messages, because I haven't found a
setting for that yet.)
