Unnecessary nsteps in opening Word 2002

K

kneejerk

Wheneveer I open Word, I first get the Macro option
choice followed by a File Conversion Dialog
Box~~STbRun9.dot followed by the error message " Word
cannot open this document template "

After getting through these road blocks I have no
difficulty in the program.

The " Remove Button in the Template Add-in" Box will not
respond.

I have gone through the steps recommended in the use of
the Trouble Shooting Utility. Util;izing the /a witch
allows me to skip the problems in opening a new document.
However whenever I open an existing document I must go
through the enumerated steps.

Will appreciate any hints as to how to further approach
eliminating this problem.

The reference to TbRun points to the TextBridge OCR software that was
probably installed by your scanner. The number 9 in the filename suggests
that it was written for Word 2000; obviously it does not work with Word
2002. Look in Word's Startup folder for the referenced add-in and remove it.

It's not clear from your message, but it's possible that what you're seeing
is a reference to ~$TbRun9.dot. If so, this suggests that the add-in itself
has already been removed but that this was done with Word open, so that the
"owner" file created when the add-in was loaded has not been deleted. It is
that temp file that you must now remove; since the filename ends in .dot,
Word is trying to load the owner file as an add-in.
