No, I do mean 'unopened'. This is Outlook 2003.
Exactly what I use.
Look at the other
posts in this area and you will see what I mean.
I have and I think they also indicate you're confused. An unopened item
doesn't mean you haven't read it. It can also mean you opened it to read it
and then closed it again. All non-new messages in your mailbox that don't
have a window on your taskbar are, by definition, unopened (i.e., closed).
Again, what view or filter can you use to see only these items?
Open items will all be in windows on your desktop. Once an item has been
opened in your Inbox, the icon in its header will show an open envelope.
Sort by this icon and it will place all the items you have ever opened
together, all the items you've forwarded together, all the items to which
you've replied together, etc. Again, the envelope in the notification area
signifies unread (and, I'll grant in this case, never opened) items in your
Inbox. Open any unread item and the icon will go away, even if more unread
(never opened) items remain.
Again, if you wish to see all never-opened (i.e., unread) items in your
entire message store, use the Unread Mail search folder.
