Unprotecting a write-protected device

Hello:
Can anyone tell me how to unprotect a write-protected removable device? I
have a flash drive that has some files which I need to delete but it's not
letting me because it says it's "write-protected". It's asking me to
unprotect is first and then delete. I can't figure out how to unprotect it.

Please help.
Thank you

Some flash drives have a tiny slide switch, usually marked with open and closed
lock icons, that behave like the write-protection switch on a floppy disk. I
just looked at four assorted flash drives, and two of them have that switch.

If there is such a switch on your drive, make sure it's set to the open
position.
