Unread email count incorrect

I have phantom unread emails in my inbox.

I am a POP account user, and I have already tried rebuilding the database, to no avail.

Please let me know how I can get rid of this problem - it is driving me crazy!

I often have this problem with the unread count of messages on this
newsgroup server (when I access it through Entourage), although I have not
seen it on mail accounts. In any case, the following has worked for me.

First make sure that you are not filtering the email by viewing Flagged
Only.

Second, update the message list using View>Refresh Message List (cmd-L).

If neither of these fixes show any new messages, it should be safe to
eliminate the phantom unread messages by using Message>Mark All as Read
(cmd-opt-T). That will reset the unread count to zero.
