Unread messages

Somehow there are messages in my received mail that go to "unread messages"
and they accumulate. they are mostly msnbc or government notifications, but
I didn't ask for them and yet they come in by the hundreds. Also, I haven't
found a way to delete them as a group and have had to delete each message
individually. Is there a way to delete them all at once?

"Unread Messages" is a virtual folder and represents all unread mail in all
of your folders. You can remove this folder if it annoys you - it does not
affect your unread mail in the various folders you maintain.
