Unread notice for Mail views?

Hello,

I'm trying to get my head around Entourage. In Mail I was able to set up
smart mailboxes. These seem to me to be similar to Mail Views. The big
difference I'm seeing is that when there are unread items in Mail Views, I
don't see any notification ( the title of the Mail View doesn's get bold and
display the unread count).

Am I missing something? Is there some other smart mailbox like feature? Or
is Mail Views the right way to go? If Mail Views is it, how do I get Mail
Views to show unread counts?
