When I try to open an e-mail attach-
ement, I get the message "OE denied access,
unsafe attachement." How do I
get around this? Why do I get this message?
You get this message because recent versions of Outlook and Outlook
Express are designed to "protect you against yourself" by not allowing
you to open any attachment that Microsoft thought could be executed
and do damage to your system. If you will search the Knowledge Base at
http://support.microsoft.com, you may find more information on this
subject.
You can work around this by having your correspondents use PKZIP or
compatible software to create a ZIP file of .EXE, .COM, .MDB, and
other "suspect" files. You can receive the ZIP file and then UNZIP it.
Some have been so infuriated by this new feature that they have
changed mail- and news-readers.
All that said, it was only by happenstance that you got the answer to
your question here... this newsgroup is devoted to Microsoft Access
Database software, and there are others that deal with Outlook and
Outlook Express.
