'Unsplit' a table?

K

Keith Smothers

I've got a document that I inherited from the person
previously holding my position. It a 30+ page report and
the majority of that is a two column, multi-row table.

I have a split or break or something in the middle of the
page that I want to get rid of. This particluar row ends
mid-page and the next one doesn't start until the top of
the next page. On the row that ends mid-page, I can hit
enter has many times as I like and it will increase the
row height.

How do I get this split to go away?

TIA,
Keith

Well, I fixed the problem although I don't understand how
what I did fixed it.

I selected the two rows in question, went to Table
Properties/Rows, toggled off 'Specify Height' and toggled
on 'Allow row to break across pages.'

The toggles were grayed out initially, so I think that
means the rows were formatted differently.

Thanks
Keith

"Allow Row to Break Across Pages" toggles on and off as
you can see. When toggled off, a row must fit on one page
if at all possible (and not "break across"). Your row had
so much text in it, it was pushing itself to a new page so
as to avoid "breaking." When you toggled off the "Allow
Row to Break Across Pages" button, you gave the row
permission to fit as much of itself as possible on the
previous page, and then to "break" and continue on the
following page, all while being technically the same "row"
of the table (more easily seen in "normal" view.

Pardon me if you have tried this already.

I can only guess that you have the 'break' option turned
off. (Select the whole table and then click Table/Table
Properties/Row)
