Unsuccessful Email Receiving: Error 17897

I am unable to receive messages using Entourage. I get "Error 17897: Authentication failed because Entourage doesn't support any of the available authentication methods."

Comcast is my service provider and i called them to confirm that my settings are correct. I also reviewed this article, and it didn't help:

Is this for a Comcast email account or is it another type account? Can you
verify this is POP?

I have Comcast too. Under the Receiving section in the Account window, do
not check any of the advanced receiving options.

Enter mail.comcast.net for POP server

Under SMTP, select advanced sending,
ˆ Override port and enter 587.
ˆ SMTP requires authentication
use same settings as receiving.

I am using a university IMAP exchange account w/ Office student edition. After the last update I cannot send or receive and I get the -17897 error. I followed the tips on the link and received another error -3249. There is no fix for this. Please help.
