Unvoluntary italic in documents

Is there a bug in my Word XP or am I doing something wrong?

I type along and suddenly the last word turns into italic. I don't type
ctrl+i. It seems to happen almost at random at least I havn't been able
to figure out when it happens.

Has anyone seen this problem, and have a solution?

Correction: I'm using Word 2003

Some guesses:

Try turning off Autoformatting using built-in heading styles.

Go to Tools->Autocorrect options->Autoformat as you type and uncheck
"Built-n heading styles."

Also, uncheck all boxes under "Apply" in Tools->Autocorrect
options->AutoFormat.
