Unwanted Automatic Mail Moves

L

Lou Sapienza

Hi I had put this up on Friday but didn't see any replies. Any help is
appreciated!
Entourage 11.3.3 is automatically moving mail from my .msn exchange server -
randomly to "Folders on My Computer Inbox" or the "Deleted Items" folder on
the exchange server.
Thanks!

Hi Lou,

you got a reply by Corentin Cras-Méneur that very same day. Check
Tools>Rules, and, above all, Tools>Mailing List Manger to see if you have
not inadvertently created a rule that moves your incoming messages to other
folders.

Yep - this is most likely due to mis-configured rules or mailing list manager.

Thanks Jolly et al!
Something else is going on. I have no postings from the time I sent my
original posting on Friday until the following Monday morning....so I never
saw and still can't see the reply. I also checked my personal .mac in box.
So that's another problem.

That said there are no rules for any of my accounts in the mailing list
manager.

I had seen somewhere - and I can't find it again about a known issue after
re-indexing the database. It said something about making a copy of the "In
Box" under "Folders On My Computer" and then doing something else to fix the
problem. As it understand it it was not a direct fix for there was none but
rather it was a work around.

Again thanks to the incredible knowledge base of all on this group.

Did you check both the Mailing List Manager *and* your Rules? Those
are two separate things under the Tools menu.

Thanks JR. Yes both Mailing List manager and Rules were checked for all
accounts. Nothing there.
Thanks!

Hi,

I'm having the same problem as Lou. I'm using Entourage 11.3.3. A
few months ago, all incoming messages would automatically go into each
respective inbox for my different email addresses. Messages would
only be moved to the inbox on my computer if I moved them myself.

Now, everything gets routed to the Inbox under "folders on my
computer" and what's worse, automatically deletes messages from my
server on one account. I'm not sure how this change happened as I
don't recall setting anything like that on purpose.

I have checked both my mailing list manager and rules and there are
none in effect. I have also checked the account settings tab several
times and can't find any setting to fix this.

Please help if you have any advice!

Mail can only be moved by a rule. If you're on an exchange account maybe the
problem is coming from some setting there. In Entourage, it's usually a
Mailing List Manager (MLM) rule that is accidentally set that moves the mail
incorrectly.

Hi Christine!
Yes I'm having the add'l problems that you are with the automatic deletions.
I've checked and checked again and there are no rules set. I've seen
somewhere on the web - I can't relocate it - that this is a known bug and
that there is a work around by 1st copying certain mailboxes to the desk top
and then performing other operations. I've tried regoogling but have come up
empty so far. If anyone else out there google and finds anything pls let us
know. Seems MS doesn't believe us - at least at the moment....
Let me know if you come up with anything if you google.
