Unwanted Automatic Outbound Email

Outlook 2002 has two email accounts. One is very old and attracts a few
thousand spam/junk/virus emails per week. Why I persist with monitoring this
accout is outside the scope of my question.

This account has only the email headers downloaded. Read and Received
requests are set to Never Send A Response. The Send/Receive Settings in the
Groups Options are Receive Mail Items Only; not Send. BlackIce by IIS catches
some malformed email headers and tags them as bad when blocking them.
Lastly, I have given a false SMTP server address for this account.

With all these preventative measures, how can an attempt to send email be
made? I occasionally see an error that the outbound email server could not be
found. This error will persist until I restart Outlook. What could possibly
be in an email header which causes Outlook to send?

Thanks for reading to this line.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. All
unsolicited mail sent to my personal account will be deleted without
reading.

Thank you for answering but you are so far from the problem.

"This error will persist until I restart Outlook."
= can fix problem.

"What could possibly be in an email header which causes Outlook to send?"
= Technical query regarding obscure techniques for circumventing Outlook
settings.

Ok I caught one. I recall the message arriving. I did not download the body;
only the header. And then some 2 hours later I noticed the send email error
'server not found'. This error was generated due to my faulty SMTP address.

After setting up a packet logger to capture all traffic I gave Outlook the
correct outbound email server address. And the mail was sent.

So what was in this email header that enabled it to send out something???

I am too tired to decipher it. I need more reasech on email protocols and
such. But for those who are interested, concerned or anyone who can elighten
me, the file snippet can be downloaded from
