Unwanted format changing

I have a problem when I create a document and save it then
open it again my paragraph indents go all haywire. I am
sure I am doing something wrong but I don't know what it
is. Please help! Thanks

Hi Skip

Difficult to be very helpful without being able to visualise the precise
manefestation of 'all haywire' <g>, but the first thing I would look for is
whether you have 'Automatically update document styles' checked in Tools >
Templates and Add-ins. If you have, then uncheck it.

If that's not it, have a look at the undo list to see whether anything is
actually changing in the document when you open it.

Or, if it's a bullets and numbering problem, a likely reason is trying to
set indents and tabs from the style 'Paragraph' settings rather than from
'Numbering'.

Also, make sure you don't have the file type in File Open set to "Recover
Text from Any File."
