UNWANTED HANGING INDENTATION

S

Word X for Mac, version 10.0.0

Although I ask, at the beginning of a document, INDENTATION
LEFT AND RIGHT = 0cm and SPECIAL -> NONE, when I press
"return" at the end of a paragraf, an HANGING INDENTATION
automatically happends.
How can I prevent this?

Well, for one you may need to update, although About Word...is not a
reliable indicator of version.

(hit refresh a few times in Safari, or use a different browser)

However, formatting in Word can be pretty tricky, and there are multiple
ways to "ask" word to do something. Note also that the lines on the ruler
apply onto the text that is selected at the time, and if no text is
selected, only the paragraph that the cursor is in.

Assuming this is happening in all new blank documents, it sounds as though
your Normal style (the default text style in new documents) has got an
indentation applied. To fix it, go to Format | Style, select Normal in left
column, click Modify, check "add to template" but not "automatically
update," use dropdown in dialog for Format | Paragraph, and make sure there
are no indentations there. Click OK back to document.
