unwanted line and number in document

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) An unwanted line with a number beneath (1 & 2) has appeared at the bottom left hand side of the page in consecutive pages of a document. How do I remove?

Based on your brief description the numbers could be either of several
things ‹ probably page numbering or footnotes. If you can be more
