Unwanted lines in Word 2000 document

Stan

Someone asked me for help with a document. There was a
visible line at the bottom of the first page as well as
part way down the second page.
I am unable to highlight or select the line. With the
cursor over the extreme right edge, it would appear as if
this is a break of some sort.
I checked to see if this is a part of a table, but there
are no tables. I also checked format borders and chose
none, and there is no change.
I have never seen a break of any type as a visible line.

Any ideas?

Page breaks and section breaks are shown as visible lines, but they're
usually dotted. It would appear that you're talking about a solid line? If
this were Word 2002, I could suggest an answer, but not for Word 2000.

I am having the same problem. The creator of this
document told me that they created the line by repeatedly
pressing the underscore key and it converted to a line.
When I put the cursor on this line, the cursor turns to an
up and down arrow with a double line. No matter what I
do, I can't get rid of this horizontal line. Have you had
any luck with it yet?
