Unwanted paragraph numbering

B

Brian White

When my Word 2000 comes up, there is already a paragraph number on the blank
page. This isn't a big problem since I can get rid of it easily. What is
worse is that the label tool has a paragraph number already in there and I
can't erase it. I've tried uninstalling MS Office and reinstalling. No
difference. Anybody out there who's had this before? Thanks.

Hi, Brian,
Click FORMAT in the Word window
click "Bullets and numbering"
choose the NONE option and click OK.

DAVE.

Hi, DAVE. Your suggestion might fix the problem in the current
document, but Brian has this problem with every new document he creates,
and your suggestion will not fix that.

It will if he first goes to Format | Style | Normal: Modify, selects
Numbering, and, after choosing None, checks the "Add to template" box.

But this is not what DAVE suggested. DAVE's suggestion will not fix
Brian's problem.

I was just trying to point out a way of accomplishing this without having to
rename (or even find) Normal.dot.
