unwanted repeating of letters and spaces

There seems to be an "auto repeat" which causes letters and spaces to be
repeated when the key is held down. How can I turn that feature off? My
typing style causes many unwanted repeats, especially when touching
the space bar.

You might try experimenting with the FilterKeys settings in Start |
Control Panel | Accessibility.

And note that, even without enabling the Accessibility Options, you can
control the delay before a key repeats and the speed at which it repeats (in
the Control Panel | Keyboard folder).
