Unwanted spaces while typing in Korean in Word X

I'm having problems with typing in Korean in Word X. First, while
typing, the blinking cursor seems to be way infront of the characters.
And when I press space, there is hugh space (sizes of tabs) that are
left between the words. Any ideas?

I certainly have an idea, but whether it makes sense or not is another
matter :)

Could it be that you are typing in a double-byte character set font, and
Word is allowing twice the horizontal space, in case the character you type
turns out to be a double-width character?

If it's not that, I suspect that it is just a rotten font (the screen
hinting is way off...)

But I am really guessing here...
