Unwanted View Switch and Table Formatting

Hi, I have this odd problem happening that I can't figure out... I
created a .doc form that is 10 pages long. Everything was working fine
then this morning I made a change and when I open the document and
view the page in "Page Layout View" as I scroll down the document,
about halfway down the view automatically changes to "Normal view".
Additionally, the table at that exact spot has 2 odd letters just
outside of it (an "F" and a "?"). Also, my form elements (set of
vertical checkboxes) are merging into other table rows at that same
spot.

I can't figure it out. I tried to force a page break just before the
table. Tried to set the table row not to break across pages.

Any ideas or help - much appreciated.

My first wild guess is that all those flaky features on top of one
another got Word all excited and the document corrupted itself.

Working on a copy of the document (you don't to make it any worse)
select everything but the last paragraph mark (cmd-8 toggles the
display of those little pilcrow things), copy, then paste into a new
document.

It is a famous folk remedy, worth applying since it is so easy, and
often effective in strange and diverse circumstances.

Should it work? Hell no! It should be impossible for a document to
become corrupted in properly designed and implemented software.
