Up grade or purchase new suite

I have office 1997 and need to up grade to 2007. Can I buy up grade, or do I
have to buy entire new Office suite

Unless you have MS Works that is newer you'll likely need to purchase the full version of Office 2007. The oldest Office edition
that qualifies for upgrading is Office 2000. Check the pricing and upgrading link on the left side of
http://office.microsoft.com/suites.

You might want to try the trial version of Office 2007 before spending the
$$$s to buy it. It has a whole new UI and not everyone likes it.
