Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I am running snow leopard 10.6.1 and whenever I update office 2008 to 12.2.0 it fails and office stops working. I followed the CompuFor instructions on updating and these do work for me either. It might be worth mentioning I could not find these files:
OS Drive\Library\Applications\Microsoft Office 2008
OS Drive\Library\Preferences\com.microsoft.*
OS Drive \Library\Preferences\Microsoft
OS Drive\Users\your_account\Library\Application Support\CrashReporter\Intervals_00000000-0000-1000-8000- 001B631F7D07.plist
OS Drive\private\var\db\receipts\com.microsoft.office.automator_workflow.pkg.b om

I hope someone can help, this is problem is driving me crazy!

Cheers,
Dan

Follow up to our off line work...

We were able to fix the problem by removing Microsoft Office receipts in the
invisible folder for receipts for Snow Leopard.

In the Finder toolbar under Go, paste in this path:

/private/var/db/receipts

We also got rid of duplicate fonts in the Microsoft font folder and deleted
font caches with Font Nuke.

Office 2008 is updated to 12.2.1 and working!

I have tried all of the options on all of these pages and still can't get
MicroSoft Word to start on my mac. The installation says that it installed
successfully, but when I try to start up Microsoft Work I get the message
Microsoft Office did not install correctly. Has anyone been able to fix this
problem.

Thanks for your help.

You need to start your own thread and give _your_ info. You don't mention
what version of Office or what OS you are using. You say you tried all the
options, but how do you know you tried everything? We need details to help
you.
