When I run update, after asking for the distribution disk, updated complaine
it does not have sufficient authorization to update a file on F:\,,,, which
is actually the DVD burned that certainly does not have office installed on
it. How can I direct updater to look for the hard drives and not CD drives
fo the office install location?
Thanks, Willard

Hi Amos,

There can be a couple of causes of this. In the Windows control panel choose the System icon and in Advanced tab choose the
Environment variables to see if your Temp folder is set to the DVD drive. If so, change it to a drive on your PC with space.

Thanks for the reply, Bob. The TEMP folder is set to C"\WINDOWS|TEMP. Any
more ideas?

Never mind, Bob, by some strange event, it started to work. I completely
updated Office without a hitch.
I do appreciate your suggestion though.
