Update Already downloaded. But doesn't install

I've tried downloading the new office updates 6 times. Each time it appears
to download the files but never begins to install. It gives me an
"Installation unsuccessful" and then lists all the files. If I go back and
try it again it says that they are "Already downloaded" but they are not
being installed. It tells me to try again. Well we all know the defination of
Crazy, right? Doing the same thing over and over expecting to get a different
outcome. Ok, I'm crazy. But I cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong. It
never asks for the Orginal CD. It doesn't give me any reason as to why it
doesn't install?

What version of Office? What service pack or update?

Well I did some more research and found that windows Installer wasn't working
correctly. I just did a repair to the system and am going to try it again.
I'm trying to install office 2003 Pro updates. I even dug out the CD s in
case I needed it.
