Update between different project within PWA

Dear all,
I have 2 tasks belonging to different project and I want to see the update
of one task to the other one.
For example, Task A belonging to planning A has got 2 days delay and is
linked to Task B which belongs to planning B. After updating Task A, i do not
see any update on planning B wihtin PWA. I have set a rules that updated
automaticly and the owner of planning A has publish within PWA.
Does anyone know why i do not see the changes within PWA?
Thanks a lot for your help

The user of the project containing Task B has to actually open that project
and allow Microsoft Project to calculate the new schedule of Task B based on
the slippage from the external task (Task A) in the other project. And then
the PM has to publish the latest schedule changes. Hope this helps.

Dear Dale,
Thanks for your reply,
Do you mean that the user of the project containning Task B cannot
manipulate within PWA to see the changes ? I think it's a bit binding for a
user.
So I guess external links are not suitable, do you sugest merging all my
different plannings (but will be time consuming for me as i got thousands of
tasks and 1000 links to review) or should i go to a solution through PSI.

Thanks,

When you say "user" in your question, are you referring to the project
manager of the second project? If so, then I would recommend that he/she
get some training on how to use Project Server 2007 properly. To update
external links, the PM must always open the project so that Microsoft
Project 2007 accepts the schedule changes from the predecessor project. At
this point, he/she can study the impact of the schedule changes on his/her
project. How else can he/she actually manage this project? And once he/she
understands the new schedule, he/she will need to publish the latest
schedule changes.

If the user thinks this is a bit too binding, I recommend you tell him/her
to live with it, as this is how the software actually works. I would
recommend that approach rather than trying to combine all of the project
into a single file. Also, remember that what people see in the Project
Center view is only the latest PUBLISHED schedule for each project. Hope
this helps.

I agree with you Dale problem is we do not have a PM 100% dedicated to the
software. Our monthly process has to be updated at least every 10 minutes as
there are many tasks between D and D+5 so the only solution is that the PM
seat in front of his computer and open the Microsoft Project Plan and accept
the changes.
Best thinks would have been to accept those changes directly within PWA.

Thanks Gary for your answer
Unfortunatly my company cannot migrate to 2010.
Do you think it's though to make a custom solution?
So maybe in 2010 next release this fonctionnality will be available.
