update bookmarks in several places---NEWBIE

Have a wee problem (I think). Have followed the steps in John McGhie
"Word Templates"-guide. Think I know what I need to do but have few
questions before I start reforming the offices entire template library.

1. If i want some of the information filled into the userform to appear
in several places can i use one bookmark or does each location need its
own. For example, want the date to appear on the cover sheet as well as
in the footer.

2. related to the first problem: If the user goes in to update the
document and hence needs to change the date on the cover sheet, can the
date in the footer be updated with the same information. Have a couple
of bookmarks that need to be updated in cover sheet and footer. What is
an easy way to do this? Is it best if the user changes all the info on
the cover sheet, or can userform appear each time the document is
opened (Im assuming the latter is not possible. Got the impression form
McGhie guide that userforms only work when templates are opened, which
woudl not be the case here.)

Would very much appreciate if someone could take the time to help.

merry christmas to all!

1) One bookmark enclosing each piece of information you wish to insert,
then a cross-reference to the bookmark every place you want it to appear.

2) I am assuming you are using "Prompt for Document Properties"? See the
help topic " Automatically display the Properties dialog box when saving
documents the first time". That is the simplest way of doing it.

Come back to us if you can't achieve your object using that mechanism.
(Hint: Disregard what the properties are named, put whatever you want in
them: Word doesn't care...)

Doing anything else means we have to do a bit more work and handle a bit
more complexity.

Cheers
