Update cross ref

J

Jeff User

I have a picture in my doc. Under it I have a caption like Figure 2.

I have 2 references to this figure else where inthe text.

If I select all (cntl-A) and do F9 (update) a copy of the picture is
inserted at every location The 2 of them) where I have the references
to it.

What could cause this?

Thanks
Jeff

reference type "figure" and insert ref to "Entire caption."

My F9 key is

Sorry, sent the previous by accident. Incomplete...

I was able to create a cross ref to caption text by inserting a ref with
reference type "figure" and insert ref to "Entire caption."

My F9 key is for "Autocorrect" but there is an option for me to update
fields thru the print menu, per help topic "Update fields or linked
information before you print."

It didn't insert the figure itself at the point of my cross ref.

See also help topic "Troubleshoot cross-references."

You might also copy your entire doct into a new blank doct and save it.
Does problem persist?

About all I can come up with, Jeff. GL.
